O kay, it wasn't really a "letter"- more like an email... but, I just received this from the Editor of WellWed of New York, as well as Vermont Vows. She just received a disk today from me of images for the Spring/Summer edition of WellWed. With her kind permission and one slight adjustment, I am posting her email!
When i get married (?????) i would LOVE to hire you (can not work with anyone from VT - too close to all of them!).....everytime you submit i am TOTALLY blown away! Going forward would you like to [shoot for us]? Would really love to work with you!
Best,
K

The adjustment there is summarizing what she asked... I may be lucky enough to do a photo shoot with them this winter! I will keep EVERYONE posted when things are finalized. |

Jennie & Joe - Philadelphia Museum of Art |

E arly on Sunday morning, Chris and I met up with Jennie & Joe outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art where Joe proposed! (side note: even though Chris was there, he was just tagging along this time). I really wish we could've gone inside because they are featuring an exhibit of one of my favorite painters- Renoir! But, it was a good thing we did this in the morning when NO ONE was there, except for the Rocky wannabees running up the stairs. ;-) It was pretty chilly out, especially after coming from the Carolinas, but Jennie was full of laughter and kept us going! We can't wait until the big day in March!
This should be a Christmas card... really!
yummy warm old tones to warm up the COLD morning!
The sky was crystal clear.
They were so stinking cute!
I played with this one a bit... probably the only shot where Jennie wasn't smiling, so I tried to set a chill mood.
I loved this spot! We would've never gotten this shot on a busy afternoon at the museum!
This one might be my favorite... I don't know; it is hard to choose.
Here go the feet again... Funny fact about me... A whole section of my senior art exhibit in college was dedicated to funny pictures of my feet. Ha! You should've seen me trying to get those shots (I was a dancer, so I was pretty flexible back then).
This may be tied for my favorite...
We just happened to venture to the back of the museum and down a hill. I love this railing!
Obviously, these look a little different from what I normally do... I tried out a few new techniques on these images to make them look a little more aged, warm and funky. Post a comment and let me know what all of you blog readers think! I am dying to know if you guys like them. |

Lindsey & Thad- Asheville, NC |

P reface: Still struggling to narrow down to 8 or less... so here goes lucky 13 again!
A week from yesterday, I met up with Lindsey & Thad in one of my favorite places to do a photo session... downtown Asheville (my hometown). We started on Wall Street, moved over to Lexington Ave, and then on to Market St. There are so many fun colors and interesting textures to work with, and Lindsey & Thad were such a fun couple... of course, it isn't quite natural to kiss or cuddle or even have your picture taken in such a crowded place as downtown, so it took a little time for Lindsey to warm up. But, she was totally into the whole engagement shoot deal by the end! My FAVORITE shot of her is the last one... so fun. They are going to be a blast at their wedding in June!
Wall Street during the "magic hour."
12 1/2 Wall Street (the address of where we took this- ha!)
I just LOVE the colors in this one!
I think Lindsey coordinated her sweater just for this door. ;-)
I don't usually take pics without heads in them during a "portrait" session, but this just caught my eye.
Nice posed shot for grandma... or whoever... I like it.
I think this little nook is usually locked up; there were no tresspassing signs in a few spots... but we just couldn't help it.
I just HAD to throw in a kissing shot!
I really love this door... anybody recognize it? (Lyndsey's bridal portrait, maybe?)
Someone had the music pumping, so Lindsey & Thad broke into a little ditty.
Who knew she was camera shy? LOVE this one!
Alrighty folks... that is all for today... tomorrow... Jennie & Joe in Philadelphia... then I will post some pics of these beautiful albums we have here (and are about to ship). Note to all current clients waiting for their album: I have notified each couple that is about to receive their album. You will be notified, too, when yours is here. :-) ALSO...
REMINDER: if you want prints by Christmas, orders must be in by Saturday!! |

Caroline’s Bridal at Converse College |

I t is so great to be back home! We loved getting to see all of our family over Thanksgiving, but I am happy to be back and at work again. First blog post... Caroline's bridal portrait! Chris and I photographed this one together- pretty rare for Chris to join me for a photo session, but he had no where else to go in Spartanburg, SC ;-). We really had a great time, especially since we were photographing at Converse College (my alma mater). Caroline was so fun, and I really have had a hard time narrowing down the preview... usually, I stick to about 8, but I think I am just too tired to narrow it down more (I realized this after 10 minutes of just staring at all of these). Caroline was really up for anything, and this location lended well to a wide variety of backdrops and moods. Happy viewing!
a beautiful view of campus... I think Caroline was reminiscing of how she walked to class in PJs (I don't really know this about her- I just know a lot of gals do this here)...
I think this shot is so sweet... nice fall colors, too! We couldn't believe it is still fall in SC; it is winter here in NY.
A little action shot Chris grabbed. I don't really love that my muffin top (aka love handles) are sticking out of one side, and I also don't really love that the WIDE angle lens emphasizes what is directly beneath those... but I do love this moment... maybe it is just me, but this is a common thing for me to do (carefully fix the bride's attire so it doesn't snag, etc... not necessarily holding a veil while a bride attempts to go UP a fire escape).
LOVE her dress!!
Chris' sweet shot.
Caroline, I told you I would be sure to get those orange cones in for you! ;-)
My sweet shot.
And then... we went into the parlor. This one is for her mom.
The next four are very similiar (no good at narrowing down right now). I love them all. Chris was holding up a giant MEGA MEGA flashlight (yes, that is the technical term), which almost caught on fire... but, I love how dramatic the light is... and all of her expressions!
She was so full of joy!
Thank you!!! Stay tuned to the blog... We have 2 more sessions to post: Lindsey & Thad in Asheville and Jennie & Joe in Philadelphia! We also received a TON of albums while we were gone... okay, well, 2 samples, 3 parent albums, and 3 wedding albums (2 from 2006 weddings). Anyway, I am going to try and photograph pieces of these tomorrow and post later this week, after we mail a few out. |

C hris and I are having the best time in Asheville, NC! Both Chris' family and my family are together at the Bent Creek Lodge, which is right down the road from both my mom's and my grandma's houses. We just had a wonderful breakfast here, and I just wanted to blog before things get rolling to wish y'all a Happy Thanksgiving. There is so much to be thankful for; Chris and I are so blessed... We are so thankful for all of our devout blog readers!!! :-)
You know, I thought about listing out things I am most thankful for (my clients and the ability to do what I do being one of them), but I kind of feel like I have given my family and friends all of that mushy stuff to their face. :-) So happy I got to see some old friends a few days ago, so happy I get to spend all this time with so much family, etc, etc.... instead of going into that, I think I just want to share some VERY random things I am thankful for...
such as...
I am thankful that we get full when we eat too much. Otherwise, I would never stop eating all that yummy sweet potato casserole!
I am thankful for the internet. That's a big one (thanks Al Gore ;-) ha!).
I am thankful for sliced bread. Seriously, think about this one. If it were left up to me to slice the bread for sandwiches, they would be half the size they should be b/c the bread would get so smooshed.
Chris just reminded me... I am thankful for jewelry. Love it! We went in Wick & Greene's the other day in Asheville, and I was drooling all over myself, especially with the Mikimoto perfect Tahitian pearls. Holy cow! I could continue, but I would digress...
Lastly, but not least, I am thankful for time off. This has been great! Of course, Chris and I are still waiting for a lazy Saturday at home (or any kind of Saturday that doesn't involve one or both of us working); we haven't had one of those since August... still waiting...
Post a comment on what you are thankful for!
Anyway...
Have a great time with your family and loved ones. (We will be!) |
